Shopping for CBD these days can have you feeling like a kid in a candy shop. And that’s because, well, some CBD shops are literally candy shops.

CBD is finding its way into more food and beverages than ever. From CBD gummies to CBD potato chips to CBD cooking oil, there’s a CBD edible for any occasion.
But not all of these CBD concoctions are worthy of your palette. Many are overpriced and ineffective, and some are downright yucky.

Bon Appetit!
The 10 Best CBD Edibles
CBD edibles come in many forms, so we broke down our list into three categories:
We’re sure you’ll find something to pique your appetite for CBD!
CBD Snacks
1. Earthshine Organics Jay’s CBD-Infused Potato Chips
Jay’s are a great go-to because they taste great AND pack a huge CBD punch. They are available in 100mg, 200mg, and 300mg strength options. Eating a handful of these left us feeling the effects more than most other edibles.
Clocking in a $25-$50 per bag, these aren’t the chips to break out at your next BBQ. But if you’re a salty snacker looking for a discreet and delicious way to take CBD, Jay’s are the edible for you.
Tasty Tip: If you’re partial to crunchy tortilla over crispy potato, Earthshine Organics Dabritos nacho cheese chips are sure to please. I wonder where they got the name?
2. Diamond CBD Pretzel Rods
Diamond CBD’s pretzel rods strike the perfect balance between sweet, salty, and crunchy. And, they’re a great way to get a full serving of CBD. These confections are made by hand and baked to crunchy perfection. Then, they’re generously dipped in CBD-infused milk chocolate and topped with a variety of sweet and salty toppings like peanuts, toffee, and crushed Oreo cookie.
These pretzels make great snacks to pack for work or to help satisfy cravings for sweets. They have far fewer calories than other sugar-packed edibles, and as they’re individually wrapped, they’re easy to grab and go or keep in your bag.
After all the processed gummies, chews, and chocolates of other companies, Diamond CBD’s handmade pretzel rods really stood out from the crowd.
3. Charlotte’s Web CBD Gummies
Speaking of calling it a day, Charlotte’s Web’s Sleep Gummies make hitting the hay easier than ever. With 10mg of CBD and 3mg of melatonin per gummy, they deliver real relaxing results.
Charlotte’s Web also makes Recovery Gummies (with ginger and turmeric) and Calm Gummies (with L-theanine and lemon balm). These varieties also contain 10mg of CBD per gummy.
All of CW’s gummies are made with natural ingredients and their wonderful full-spectrum hemp extract (CW is a seed-to-shelf operation, which means they grow their own hemp strain and never outsource).
Plus, they taste great! It can be fun to shop for crazy gummy flavors around the web, but if you’re after the highest quality CBD, Charlotte’s Web is the clear choice for CBD gummies.
4. Lord Jones CBD Dark Chocolate Espresso Chews
While we might not recommend buying Lord Jones’ capsules or CBD tinctures (unless you want to roll with the cool kids), their edibles are worth splurging on.
The Lord Jones CBD Dark Chocolate Espresso Chews are hand made from the finest dark chocolate and espresso, and each chew contains 20mg of CBD.
Because these treats are twice as strong as most others, we can almost forgive them selling only 5 chew per box at a $30 ticket. We would almost be inclined not to put them into our shopping basket again and go for a cheaper option. But when we pop one in and go to chocolate heaven, we know we’ll be back for more.
Their treats are packaged with care and exude elegance. Lord Jones products make great gifts, but we’d recommend keeping all of these chocolates for yourself.
CBD Beverages
5. The Brothers Apothecary Tea
The Brothers Apothecary fine teas don’t shy away from what their customers want. That’s why they pack their teas with 50-60mg of CBD per serving. Whether you’re looking for a boost of focus in the morning from one of their caffeinated CBD-infused teas or a way to wind down at night from a hot cup of chamomile, The Brothers Apothecary has a mug for you.
There are over 10 teas to choose from. Some of our favorites include the Mighty Matcha, Oolong Passion, and Chai Awakening. All are full-flavored and satisfying. The Brothers Apothecary doesn’t cut corners when it comes to quality, adding additional ingredients that boost the efficacy of CBD. Organic herbs, roots, and fruit like yuka, acacia, mint, ginger, and more dovetail perfectly with the effects of CBD. Having a mug of this stuff became a highlight of our day.
You’ll pay around $90 for 20 tea bags, but considering the high amount of CBD per serving, this is a pretty good deal. And if you have a cup a day on workdays, one pack will last a month.
6. Dram CBD Seltzer
Dram comes in an original flavorless seltzer as well as three flavored options:
With just enough sweetness and carbonation to satisfy without being overpowering, we can imagine keeping a permanent supply of Dram in the fridge. And thanks to its attractive price, it’s not so hard to do.
Dram is only about $4 per can. Sure, it costs more than a coke, but it’s one of the most affordable CBD-infused drinks. Many beverages that contain much less CBD than Dram’s 20mg cost nearly twice as much.
Dram covers all the bases when it comes to a great CBD beverage: it’s affordable, tasty, and packed with CBD.
7. Green Roads CBD Coffee
Green Roads CBD Coffee changed all that. Finally, a CBD company put in the work to find a coffee blend that tastes great and covers up any potential hempiness of CBD.
Green Roads sources real Columbian coffee that tastes better than the stuff you buy at the store. You can expect an invigorating aroma of chocolate and caramel and a medium-strong flavor. Green Roads coffee has 30 mg of CBD per cup—more than enough to feel the effects.
A 16 oz bag of Green Roads coffee costs about $55, which isn’t bad for a premium blend infused with CBD. If you want it to last longer, you can always mix it with normal coffee. This stuff is powerful, so you should be able to feel its benefits even with half a cup.
CBD for Cooking
8. Grass Valley Orchards CBD Organic Olive Oil
Grass Valley infuses its olive oil with CBD isolate as opposed to full spectrum CBD. CBD isolate is flavorless, meaning that no hempy terpenes will find their way into your pasta sauce or spinach salad.
Compared to other non-CBD olive oils, Grass Valley Orchards is definitely a premium product. It’s light vegetable notes and creamy texture make it ideal for dipping and drizzling as well as frying up garlic and onions. The flavorful olives are organically grown in California, and the difference is noticeable. The quality of the ingredients and 250mg of CBD per bottle make the price tag of $45 for 250ml appropriate.
9. Luce Farm Wellness Hemp-Infused Honey
This thick and rich honey has a complex flavor distinct to raw Vermont honey. The addition of organic coconut oil makes for a special complexity that put this one over the edge in our taste tests.
At 360mg of CBD per bottle, this honey contains about 60mg of CBD per ounce. It’s the perfect amount to add a bit of CBD to a beverage or to add a full dose to a slice of toast with peanut butter or banana. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it.
10. Mountain Elixirs CBD Bitters
For cocktail lovers and confectioners, Mountain Elixers CBD Bitters delivers a burst of botanical flavor with a relaxing note of CBD.
For the unanointed, bitters is a concentrated alcoholic ingredient used in cocktails and cooking. It’s made with botanicals like herbs, fruit, and spices, and it’s able to alter the flavor of your cooking or cocktail with just a tiny drop. Basically, bitters is a magical ingredient that is virtually calorie-free and can add a world of flavor to a boring dish in seconds.
With CBD cocktails growing in popularity, Mountain Elixers has answered the call with their line of premium CBD-infused bitters.
With 5 different bitters to choose from (from the classic Aromatic to the innovative Bourbon Cherry—a Manhattan lover’s dream come true), there’s a botanical blend to complement any of your concoctions in the bar or kitchen.
One of the highlights of this product was the ease of dosing. With other bitters, it’s really hard to determine how much CBD you’re adding when you’re going drop by drop. But Mountain Elixers made their bottles to release 1mg of CBD per dash. Easy to dose, easy to drink.
Because bitters are so strong, you can’t add a lot of it to anything without overpowering your dish or drink. But, if you’re using it to complement a cocktail that already contains CBD (maybe one made with Dram seltzer?), it makes an ideal accompaniment.
CBD Edibles FAQ
We cover everything you need to know before you stock up on CBD edibles.
What are the Benefits of CBD Edibles?
CBD edibles have a number of possible benefits ranging from anxiety relief to reduced pain and inflammation. Dozens of studies on CBD have been conducted on humans and animals, and while more research is needed to confirm CBD’s health benefits, the results are promising.
Here are some of the benefits you may experience when taking the products on our list of the best CBD edibles:
Why Choose CBD Edibles Over Other CBD Products?
We spoke about some of the benefits that CBD users and scientists are talking about. But to get these benefits, you don’t necessarily need to take CBD edibles. You could take a CBD capsule, CBD oil tincture, or even use a topical product (like a cream or balm).
So, Why Should You Take CBD Edibles?
How Do CBD Edibles Work?
When you eat a CBD edible, the CBD gets absorbed into your body via your intestinal tract. From there, it has a wide range of possible effects on the body. We won’t go into all of the effects of CBD here—there are far too many.
But, you should know that CBD works by interacting with your body’s endocannabinoid system (a body system like your nervous system or circulatory system), and by binding with key receptors such as GABA, serotonin, dopamine, and others.
CBD edibles can affect your body in different ways from other CBD products. For this reason, CBD edibles are better for some conditions and less effective for others.
You need to digest the CBD from an edible before you will feel its effects. This can take some time. If you have a meal before you take your edible, it can take up to an hour before any CBD gets into your system. This means that CBD edibles are not the best choice if you need immediate relief from nausea, panic, or pain.
For immediate relief, we’d recommend vaping CBD or using a sublingual CBD oil.
But it’s not all bad news for CBD edibles. When you digest CBD, the effects endure for a longer period of time. You can expect CBD to remain in your system for 5-6 hours after eating an edible. This is much longer than the 10-30 minutes you get from vaping.
We recommend taking CBD edibles for their long-lasting relief. If you take them for anxiety or pain, eat your edible for breakfast and enjoy relief throughout the day. If you’d like to sleep better, take one 30 minutes to an hour before bed and you’ll benefit from the effects all night long.
How are CBD Edibles Made?
Different CBD edibles are made in different ways, but typically, CBD is infused into an oil and then added to an edible product.
In the case of gummies, CBD oil is added to a gelatin mix, cooled, and packaged. CBD chocolates are made by mixing CBD oil with warm chocolate. It is then cooled and wrapped.
When you shop for CBD edibles, make sure that your brand of choice makes their own products with CBD oil. Some cheap brands simply buy normal gummies and toss them in CBD oil to coat them. This results in an uneven distribution of CBD and a sticky mess.
CBD beverages are made a bit differently.
CBD edibles are made with CBD oil, but this won’t work for beverages because oil is less dense than water and will not mix. CBD beverages must be made with a water-soluble CBD so the cannabinoids will evenly disperse in liquid.
Most CBD beverages are now made with water-soluble CBD but always double-check before making a purchase. If you drink a beverage made with CBD oil, you’ll get all of the CBD in the first sip.
How Much CBD is Safe to Eat?
Studies have shown that CBD is safe to consume even in large doses. And, there is no evidence that CBD is dependency-forming. This is great news for those who want to take CBD for pain or anxiety.
Though it should be said that CBD will have a stronger effect at high doses and can leave you feeling a bit of a “buzz.” This feeling isn’t mind-altering like marijuana; it’s more of a slight sedated feel. Nevertheless, if you take CBD at doses over 100mg at a time, you shouldn’t operate a vehicle.
It’s also important to note that CBD affects the body differently at different doses. Those taking CBD for epilepsy or schizophrenia will take very high doses to achieve an equilibrium. Whereas those taking CBD for nausea or glaucoma should stick to low doses to get the desired effect.

Where Can I Buy the Best CBD Edibles?
CBD edibles can be harder to find than other CBD products. This is because current regulations have deemed them illegal to sell at retail locations, bars, and restaurants. This doesn’t mean that CBD is dangerous. It’s a new product and simply hasn’t yet been approved as a food additive by the FDA. It is likely to be approved in the USA in the near future, as it has already been approved in Canada.
Luckily, you can find all the CBD-infused foods you could dream of, on the internet. Click on one of the products we reviewed in this article to find a CBD edible you can trust. The brands that produce our top picks also make other products you might like to taste.
